Lawmakers are making quick work of providing money for the initial costs of the war in Iraq.

On Friday, the Senate approved a compromise bill that provides nearly 80- billion dollars for the war and its aftermath. Yesterday-- the House added its stamp of approval. The fast-track legislation also contains funds to combat terrorism, boost defenses at home and give new aid to airlines.

A man is in the hospital and two Roanoke City police officers are on administrative leave after an early morning shooting. The officers were responding to a loud music call on Madison Avenue when they stopped 20- year- old Antonio Lee Taylor who was driving away from the area.

As the officers talked to Taylor, police say he moved his car, striking Officer M-E Thompson in the leg. Officer Thompson then fired several shots at Taylor, one of which hit him in the chest. The car then struck the porch of a home on Madison Avenue. Taylor was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial, but his condition is not being released.

An accident on Interstate 81 in Montgomery County tied up traffic for hours.

Shortly before 8 o'clock tonight, State Police say the driver of a tractor trailer ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected and flipped. Officials then had to clean up bags of concrete that the truck was carrying. The wreck blocked both northbound lanes of the interstate, and traffic was diverted to Route 460. One lane has since been re-opened. No other cars were involved, and no one was injured. The driver of the truck has been charged with reckless driving.

Crews in Giles County continue to search for a man who's boat capsized on the New River.

40- year- old James Pearly Simonds of Stuarts Draft was last seen around one o'clock yesterday. Today crews searched the river and river banks as police searched by helicopter. Witnesses told police they saw the man heading downstream on the top of a capsized boat. Rescue personnel found the boat about a mile and a half downstream from where Simonds was last seen. Officials say the river was more than nine feet above normal when the accident happened. No word yet on whether the search will resume tomorrow.

Mike Weir has added a new green jacket to his wardrobe tonight after winning the first playoff in 13 years at the Masters.

To Augusta National we go, where Tiger Woods struggled to a round of 75 after a double bogey at the day's third hole. He finished nine shots off the pace.
It was also that kind of day for third round leader Jeff Maggert who carded a 75 as well, only good enough for fifth place.
Len Mattiace was in the hunt though. Mattiace made three birdies and an eagle on the back nine to finish at 7-under for the tourney. This shot for birdie certainly helped.
But Weir made 2 great saves on the way in to also finish at 7-under and force a playoff.
On the first hole of sudden death, Mattiace found trouble and Weir just had to make bogey. He becomes the first Canadian to win the Masters and the first lefthander to win a major in 40 years.

On the diamond, the Salem Avalanche continued its first road trip of the season with a 7-2 loss at the hands of Winston-Salem. In Lynchburg, the Hillcats improved to 5 and 1 by beating Wilmington 5 to 2.

In the big leagues Greg Maddux finally broke out of his early season slump. Maddux had been oh and three for the first time in his career, but today gave up just one run on two hits in six innings of work against the Marlins.
Vinny Castilla drove in five runs for the Braves who won it 7 to 1.
