40-year-old James Pearly Simonds has been missing since Saturday, when his boat capsized near Glen Lyn. Relatives told authorities he was working on a project for V-Dot, although V-Dot says it has no record of Simonds' or his work. Economic times are tough for those in the grandfather clock business.
Some workers in Henry County are losing their jobs. Yesterday, Pulaski Furniture announced it'll lay off 70 employees at its Ridgeway plant in June. The president of the company says the decision was put off for as long as possible in hopes that sales would increase.
Laid- off employees will receive a severance package. Other furniture companies have been notified of the available workers. The company expects the layoffs will return the plant to a full schedule.
