School Board members say it was important to keep Harris on the job in Roanoke for the next few years.
With major construction projects moving forward at the Roanoke Academy of Math and Science and both high schools, and with the deadline for full state accreditation fast approaching, they say continuity is essential.

Police found the school bus abandoned in the 1400 block of Pierce Street this afternoon.
They say someone broke into the school last night and stole a TV and VCR, then apparently used the bus as a getaway vehicle.

A Henry County couple has been found guilty of embezzling nearly 100-thousand dollars from their church in Bassett.

A federal jury convicted Terry and Myra Moore on six counts involving mail fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy.
Prosecutors argued Terry Moore abused his position as financial secretary for St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church over a six-year period.
Moore used church money to pay off credit cards, phone bills and buy material for his printing business.
The couple will be sentenced in August.
