Fire destroyed a house in Roanoke this morning.

It happened in the 27-hundred block of King Street in Northeast section of the city.
Officials say the blaze started around 2, and was under control in just under an hour.
Two people were sent to the hospital with smoke inhalation, and one of them also suffered a heart attack.
There is no word on what caused the fire or the condition of the victims.

Hundreds gathered to pay their final respects to a South Boston airman who died serving his country.
U. S Air Force Major William R. Watkins, the third, was post-humously awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action, and the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism.

Watkins was laid to rest at South Boston's Oak Ridge Cemetery yesterday.
The 37 year old was serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He and his crew mate were killed when their F-15 went down during a bombing mission.
The military also plans to hold a memorial service for Watkins at the airforce base where he was stationed in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Watkins leaves behind his wife, Major Melissa Watkins, and an eleven month old son. His widow is expecting another child in August.

Dr. Bowman says antihistamines are typically the first line of defense, but allergy shots and steroids are an option in more severe cases.

He went from a high school athlete to a ballet dancer practically overnight.
But for one Cave Spring High School senior, dancing is no passing fancy.
In this week's Virginia Profile, I spoke with the lone male dancer in Southwest Virginia's ballet company.

Three years ago, Joseph Redwine's life took an unexpected turn when he was bitten by the ballet bug.

As a lacrosse player, track runner and martial artist, Redwine had plenty of athletic ability.
He just never thought of applying it to ballet.
That is, until ballet came calling for him.

Terri Post, artistic director of the Southwest Virginia Ballet Company, worked with Joseph until he could dance the role.
Then, she offered him a scholarship to join the company.

Joseph will graduate from Cave Spring High School in June. In the meantime, he's practicing six days a week and working toward a career as a professional dancer.
He says the only thing better than dancing for the fun of it is getting paid to pirouette.

In Chandler, Arizona, chihuahuas and their owners gathered to compete in the 6th annual Chihuahua races. It was all part of the city's Cinco de Mayo celebration.
They may not have been in a hurry to get to the finish line, but the dogs got plenty of love and applause... even when they got distracted along the way.
