The Christiansburg Police Department usually sends its color guard team to Washington D-C to participate in the national memorial for fallen officers. They won't make the trip this year, but some officers will still ride their bikes from Richmond to the capitol as part of the Bike- for- Blue campaign.

An armed robbery in Danville sent one man to the hospital early this morning. Four men entered a house on the 13-hundred block of Twin Oakes Lane shortly before 3 AM and tied up three people inside. One of the victims, Darrell Floyd Johnson was pistol-whipped and then shot in the head and the thigh. He is recovering at Danville Regional. The other two victims were not hurt. The four suspects took a playstation and a workbag, but police believe they were looking for money. The suspects are still at large.

Students at Virginia Military Institute will be paying more next year for tuition, especially those who are in-state.

VMI is raising tuition for in-state students by 23 percent. And out-of-state students will see an 11-percent increase.
School officials have also decided to increase the room and board fees for next year.
So now in-state students will be paying close to 13-thousand a year and out-of-state student will be dishing out more than 25-thousand.
VMI says the increase in fees will make up for recent budget cuts. Officials say the school lost about 2-point-six-million dollars in state budget cuts.

They say diamonds are a girl's best friend and that was what the mom who won the grand prize took home. Some moms and their children monkeyed around while others took a ride on the Zoo-Choo. The moms who live at the zoo, didn't seem to mind the company.

The event concludes Business Appreciation Week, but there will be only funny business on the court. Davison does have a serious dilemma though, how to coach the governor.

Nascar regular Robby Gordon held the provisional pole for a good part of the day with a four lap average of 230.20 miles per hour, but Gordon's Andretti Green teammate Tony Kanaan knocked Gordon from the top spot.
Kanaan negotiated the Brickyard at over 231 miles per hour and currently holds the provisional pole. About a half hour remains in day one.

In the previous six times he had led after the third round of a tournament, David Toms had gone on to win on four of those occasions. This afternoon in Charlotte, Toms added another title to his resume, winning the Wachovia Championship.
