Earlier today the A-C-C voted to offer invitations to Miami, Syracuse and Boston College.
The vote was 8-to-1.
This means that Tech's only hope is that one of those schools - likely Syracuse turns the invitation down - or that the Big East stays together. That latter is what Frank Beamer is hoping to make happen at the Big East meetings this weekend.

Wayne Sterling resigned today to accept another position in Kentucky.

Jean, county leaders are surprised and maybe a little disappointed but they're not publicly saying that right now.

They do point out that Wayne Sterling had no contract with the county however he did informally agree to stay for at least three years.
His main purpose was to help turn around the Henry County economy.

Sterling became the CEO of Henry County's Office of Commerce eighteen months ago.
During that time, he brought six expansions and new companies to the Martinsville Henry County area.

County leaders say Sterling was worth every penny even though his 200-thousand dollar salary caused quite a commotion when he was hired.

At least three of those were car bombs.

A U-S State Department spokeswoman says one of the attacks took place near a synagogue and no American facilities were targeted.
Moroccon news outlets report three people have been arrested.

Authorities say a hunter found a man's body around 10-45 this morning in a remote part of town, on the west side of Draper Mountain.

The Hokies got the new they were expecting, but really didn't want to hear this afternoon as the ACC's presidents and chancellors voted to offer invitations to join the conference to Miami, Syracuse and Boston College.
The vote was 8-to-1 as a proposal submitted by the Virginia Cavaliers to include the Hokies fell short of the necessary seven votes.
There is no guarantee that all three, especially Syracuse will accept the invitation, but it's clear that Tech's best bet now is to keep the Big East intact.

The Scott Robertson Memorial junior golf event is celebrating its 20th anniverary this weekend.
In it's infancy the event couldn't even attract a handful of top players, much less two or three local girls.

The nations number one 18 and under female player, 16 year old Paula Creamer produced an average driving distance at last week's LPGA event was 269 yards, which, for an entire season, would rank her in the top ten on the pro tour. Paula attributes added strength and power in the weight room, a necessary component for juniors in this day and age.

John City Tennessee native Cindy Phillips is getting her edge on the links by being home schooled. The flexible schedule enables her to play half a dozen more tournaments than if she was still in high school and she is on the course by noon everyday.
