Those following the roadmap to peace apparently have little direction as the bloodshed intensifies in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
It is a situation of violence fueling violence.
In Jerusalem a Palestinian suicide bomber blew up a bus during afternoon rush hour.
GIDOU ESRA/ISRAELI SPOKESMAN:
"THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE ANYTHING VIA TERROR. THIS SUICIDE
BOMB IS AGAINST PEACE."
The militant group Hammas claimed responsiblility--calling it
retaliation for Tuesday's Israeli attempt to kill one of ITS leaders.
Hammas spiritual leader Sheik Ahmed Yassin said Israel must stop
targeting political figures or their people will be targeted as well.
In spite of that Israel responded to the Bus attack by firing missiles
at another Hamas leader in Gaza city--this time killing him.
All this comes just days after President Bush launched a new Middle East peace plan aimed at ending more than two and a half years of violence.
BUSH:
"IT IS CLEAR THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE MIDDLE EAST WHO HATE PEACE."
Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas is calling for Palestinian
militants and Israel to halt all attacks and press for peace.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon agreed but said his country WILL continue pursuing the militants. As the violence builds in the Middle East it looks like the peace plan....has escalated plans for war. Drew Levinson, CBS News.))
