Jean, Pittsylvania County like all school systems in the state currently follows requirements put forth by the Virginia High School League.

But some feel the school system should go a step further and raise the academic level for student athletes.
One parent recently pointed out that students only have to achieve a "D" to pass a class and therefore be eligible to play sports.

One school board member is proposing that students now be required to pass all four subjects.

Now that he's back, his lawyer is asking the state's highest court to reinstate that appeal.
