In 1989, Beamer had an angioplasty procedure performed at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
At that time he did NOT have a heart attack but a narrowing of an artery.
Frank Beamer is 56 years old and has been the head coach at Tech for 16 seasons.

Jean, We've all seen how the deer population has exploded over the years, some feel we should take drastic measures to control it.

By a 4 to 0 vote with one member abstaining, Martinsville's city council tonight agreed to allow residents to hunt deer with a bow and arrow.
Several council members had some concerns but voted for the ordinance anyway because they believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

This all came about nearly a year ago after numerous complaints from residents.
Some have problems with deer eating their gardens, others complain about deer jumping in front of their vehicles.
The council then appointed a task force and held several public meetings before proposing this ordinance.

Hunters will also have to obtain a permit from the police department.
They will then need written permission from a landowner where they wish to hunt.
And for most people, hunting will have to be from elevated platforms at least seven feet above the ground.

Once that's in place, they hope to begin deer hunting within city limits by the fall.

A drug meant to help grow hair may now be used to help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Scientists say the drug finasteride (finiss-ter-AHD) which is sold under the brand names of Proscar and Propecia- has been shown to inhibit prostate cancer.
A huge ten year study of 18 thousand men found this: men who took Proscar for seven years reduced their risk of contracting the disease- compared to those receiving a placebo.

The 14-year old girl feared abducted from Stafford County has been found safe.
The girl was found with her alleged abductor in a trailer in Lafayette, Indiana.
27-year-old Marcelino Cabrera is being held there on an abduction warrant.
Stafford County authorities put out an Amber Alert Friday night after the two apparently left together.
Investigators later said they had been having an intimate relationship and Cabrera had been living with the girl and her grandmother for more than a year.

Last week, the health department issued a water quality advisory for the Crazy Horse Campground and Marina.
Officials said heavy rainfall washed too much bacteria into the area and that visitors should avoid the water. A spokesman with the Health Department says differing levels of bacteria are to be expected and that the results won't change the agency's advisory.

The couple said they felt no fear, but the water pressure left them feeling a little giddy and breathless.

As we mentioned at the top of the newscast, Frank Beamer is resting comfortably tonight at Piedmont hospital in Atlanta after experiencing some chest discomfort. Doctors did an arteriogram and found NO blockages in his arteries. He and his family always vacation this time of year at their beach in Georgia. Beamer is expected to be released tomorrow morning. The staff has been taking good care of him, in fact a hospital spokeswoman says they have thanked him repeatedly for Michael Vick.

Beamer's condition is not believed to be linked to the ACC-BIg East talks, but get this -
The ACC presidents and chancellors met from 5:30 to nine o'clock tonight, and while there is no official word from the conference, sources tells us that Miami and Virginia Tech will be invited to join. The Washington Post in its Wednesday edition also will report that the Hokies and Hurricanes are the choice of the ACC. Commissioner John Swofford did not make any statements tonight, but the ACC is expected to formally announce its decision tomorrow.
