Virginia Tech has now been officially invited to join the Atlantic Coast conference.
The ACC announced the invitation of Tech and Miami on its website about a half hour ago.

Clemson President and ACC council chairman James Barker says the two institutions -quote- represent and share the values for which the ACC has long been known. He goes on to say "We feel they will be a great addition to our family".

Virginia Tech is no longer suing the A-C-C. In fact, the school could find itself on the other side of the lawsuit... according to Attorney General Jerry Kilgore.

Kilgore says a condition of Tech's offer to join the A-C-C was that the Hokies withdraw from the legal action.
The Attorney General credits the lawsuit with slowing down the expansion process that allowed Tech to re-emerge as a candidate.

A union with local members is taking legal action against the Pillowtex Corporation.

The Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees has filed a grievance against the company for delaying vacation bonuses for 53-hundred employees. Pillowtex operates a plant in Henry County that employs about a thousand workers. The North Carolina based company says paying the bonuses would violate agreements with bank lenders. Pillowtex is dealing with financial problems and is up for sale An arbitrator will hear formal complaints on the issue.

For her first baby, Victoria Coleman spent about 23 hours in labor.. her second baby came in about 23 minutes.
