Charlotte County authorities say a man from Ohio is responsible for yesterday's bank robbery and high speed chase. They've also arrested another man believed to be the get- away driver. 26- year- old Lonnie R. Russell from Ohio was shot and killed by authorities after a series of shoot- outs.

It started at the Bank of Charlotte County in Phenix. Officials say Russell robbed the bank and then shot at police as he tried to get away. He then shot his way into a home on Route 40 before stealing the couple's car.

A chase ensued that ended with a shoot- out on Route 615 in Campbell County. Russsell's body has been sent to Richmond for an autopsy.

David B. Thompson Jr, also of Ohio, was taken into custody without incident this morning. He's been charged with robbery. Officials say other charges may follow. A White Honda with Ohio tags was found five miles from the final shoot- out between Russell and police. Thompson is being held in the Charlotte County jail without bond.

Police in Cocke County Tennessee have arrested two teenagers in connection with the Interstate 40 shootings that left one person dead and a local woman injured.

19-year-old Kimberly Bede (Buh-Dee) of Moneta (Muh-NEETA) was shot while traveling on I-40 Wednesday. Another man was killed. At first, police thought a sniper or road rage may have been to blame. But last night, police arrested a 13 and a 15 year old boy, charging them with reckless homicide and reckless aggravated assault.

Authorities in Henry County are looking for a man who they say tried to run over a deputy with his car.

[TAKE WYATT FS] 30 year old Mathew Dean Wyatt of Rocky Mount faces charges of eluding police and assaulting a police officer. Authorities say Wyatt tried to hit a deputy trying to stop him at a traffic check.

He then fled onto the Bassett Heights extension where he struck a home and went down an embankment before taking off on foot. Wyatt is also facing charges of violating his probation in Franklin County. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Henry County Sheriff's Department.

A Covington woman was killed this morning in a single car accident on Route-220.

State Police say 41- year- old Margie Lorrean Jones was killed when her car ran off the road-- hitting a few trees and an embankment. The accident happened near Eagle Rock in Botetourt County. Police say there weren't any skid marks at the scene which leads them to believe Jones fell asleep at the wheel. An autopsy is being performed to check for any medical conditions that may have proceeded the accident. Jones is survived by her husband and two children.

A Pulaski County family has been reunited with their missing teenaged daughter. Tara Sheets was returned to her grandparents' home around 11 o'clock last night. The 16- year- old had been missing for nearly a week. Tara's grandmother once feared her granddaughter's disappearance could be linked to her time spent in Internet chat rooms. Pulaski County Sheriff, Jim Davis says the case is still being investigated and is not releasing any information at this time. The Sheets family says it plans to spend the weekend together.

Pole sitter Scott Dixon was in control of this thing all night long. Rain eventually shortened the race from 250 laps to 206. Dixon led all the way for his third win of the season.

PGA Tour rookie Richard Johnson is the third round leader at the Fed Ex Saint Jude Classic in Memphis. Johnson is a Swede ranked 240 something in the world. But he's a solid round away from his first tour victory.
