Two suspected terrorists busted this Spring at the bus terminal in Roanoke have pled guilty... NOT to any terrorist activity, but identification fraud.

The F-B-I apprehended the Elsakaan brothers at the Greyhound station March 3rd on their way to New York City.
They'd come from Tennessee where one of the men was spotted taking pictures at a Hydroelectric Dam near Knoxville.
It turned out the two were among 40 individuals who used the same Henrico County address to obtain phony I-D cards from Virginia's D-M-V.

Once the photos were developed, authorities found only a picture of a woman holding a candy bar. The dam wasn't even visible in the shot.
The government now says "there was no evidence" linking Mustafa and Hatin Elsakaan to terrorism. They'll be sentenced on the fraud charges later this month.

A handful of local charitable organizations are fighting to claim a sizeable inheritance.

The Roanoke Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity and Western Virginia Foundation for Arts and Sciences are three of six non-profits named in the will of Thomas Leivesley.
The Roanoke County man died in December of 2000, leaving the organizations a trust fund estimated to be worth about 2 and a half million dollars.
But the agencies are seeking to dissolve the trust.
They say two of the will's trustees, Robert and Linda Howard of Missouri, are trying to keep the charities from their rightful inheritance.

During Peter Wonson's second year as PH principal, the school found frequent headlines... parents concerned about school safety and the accuracy of discipline reports, a lockdown after gunshots were heard nearby... the reassignment of a school resource officer who spoke with a reporter.
In an interview this afternoon, Wonson said he welcomes a state audit of school discipline reports... and doesn't believe anyone at PH intentionally under-reported incidents
He praises the school's resource officers and says he had no role in Butch Lewis's reassignment.

They were clearing a new trail through woods behind Patrick Henry, to give resource officers and security personnel better access to the area.

Health officials say a dead crow found in the Boonsboro area on June 23rd tested positive for the disease.
It's the first such bird found in the area this year.
The Lynchburg Health Department is continuing its surveillance of birds as part of its West Nile virus response plan.
Officials urge residents to eliminate mosquito breeding areas and protect themselves from bites.
Twenty-nine people contracted West Nile in Virginia last year. Two of them died.

A teenage girl will be tried as an adult for her role in a carjacking and kidnapping at a Roanoke hotel.
16-year-old Monique Simmons' attorney says she'll plead guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors say Simmons and two boys, ages 13 and 17, attacked a woman in the parking lot at the Wyndham Hotel last month.

Called "Drive Safe and Free" the Blue Ridge Transportation Safety Board is hoping to limit drunk driving by using billboards, yard signs, and cards with safe driving tips.
But that's not all.
A new law says a drunk drivers with a passenger seventeen years old or younger will spend at least five days in jail.
And with up to a one thousand dollar fine, people who drink and drive will now pay an even higher price.
