Supporters are asking the school board to endorse having officer Lewis reinstated.
Chairwoman Gloria Manns pointed out the school board has no say because officer Lewis falls under the city police department therefore it is Chief Joe Gaskins decision.
She also believes it would be a bad precedent for the school board to get involved in other department's business.

You may see signs reminding you of that. The Blue Ridge Transportation Safety Board is putting up billboards, yard signs, and cards with safe driving tips. The campaign is called "Drive Safe and Free."
It's an extra effort this year to avoid drunk driving accidents. Officials hope education along with strict penalties will curb the problem.
