400 kids ages nine to thirteen from Central Virginia were at the camp last week.

Then this past weekend, a security guard spied the hound's eye through a crack and called for help.

Tonight Chipper Jones was super Human for the second straight day. He hit two homers tonight to follow up the two homers he hit against the Mets yesterday.

In the bottom of the first Pedro Martinez pegs Alfonso Soriano on the wrist with the pitch that almost bounces into his face. Pedro was just getting warmed up, or maybe he needed some more warm-up because he then hit Derek Jeter on the wrist. Neither played after being hit and went to the hospital for x-rays which were negative. Pedro would settle down and as would his counterpart Mike Mussina - who finished with 9 strikeouts.

In one other baseball note, Cubs centerfielder Corey Patterson will not only miss the all-star game, but the rest of the season. Patterson tore the ACL in his left knee and cartilege Sunday. Yesterday the Cubs placed him on the 15 day disabled list. Patterson has been enjoying a breakout season in his second full year in the majors. He's hitting .298 with 13 homers and 55 RBI in 83 games. He also has 16 stolen bases.

The women's U.S. Open golf championship needed a special 18 hole playoff at the Pumpkin Ridge golf course in North Plains, Oregon to settle things today.

The three way playoff between Angela Stanford, Kelly Robbins and Hilary Lunke came down for the final hole of the special playoff. Stanford had to make this long birdie putt to tie Lunke and even the match. And Angela will do just that as she drops in the putt from off the green. But Lunke stayed focused and came right in behind her and played the break and the withstood the pressure to drop in a birdie putt of her own on the 90th hole of the championship. The qualifier pocketed $540 thousand for the win.

When Virginia Tech and Miami joined the ACC last week one of the questions asked immediately last Tuesday night was when would the league add its 12th member.

Tonight several folks in the sunshine state are floating the idea that the Florida Gators should be the 12th member to join the ACC. This is nothing but speculation, but leaving the SEC for the ACC would put the Gators in the same league with their Florida brethren, and put the Gators' hoop program in a much more competitive arena.

The Orlando Magic's Darrell Armstrong has been arrested outside of an Orlando nightclub early this morning. Armstrong is accused of fighting with a female police officer outside of the nightclub. The officer Theresa Joyce, says she sprained her thumb as a result of the scuffle with Armstrong. Armstrong was released on a $1000 bond with a torn shirt.

Also, Damon Stoudamire, of the Portland Trailblazers was arrested over the fourth of July weekend and charged with Marijuana possession. He tried to board a plane in Tuscon while allegedly trying to go through the metal detector with over an ounce of pot wrapped in aluminum foil.
