A Lynchburg woman is in jail tonight charged with killing a baby she was caring for.
Police were called to the woman's home on Pulaski Street yesterday for a seven-month-old infant that was unresponsive.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy later determined the child died from a fractured skull.

Authorities in Camden County found a family of four dead in their home in Magnolia.
Police say it's a case of murder suicide.
A man and boy died of carbon monoxide poisoning in the garage, but no word yet on how a woman and girl died. They were found in separate bedrooms.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension, which runs the 4-H center at Smith Mountain Lake and 5 others around the state, is now reviewing its procedures.
Yesterday, Franklin County's prosecutor started looking into allegations that volunteer counselors at the Smith Mountain Lake camp set up fights and forced campers to take part.
In a statement today, the director of the Extension program said the allegations, if true, are contrary to what 4-H stands for and teaches.
Franklin County investigators continue to interview campers. Commonwealth's Attorney Cliff Hapgood also confirmed that the groups staying at the camp last week were from Bedford and Halifax Counties.

Ed Matricardi will spend the next three years on probation and pay a 5-thousand dollar fine.
Prosecutors had recommended the former political operative pay ten thousand dollars.
Matricardi apologized in court for listening in on the calls by using access codes provided by a disgruntled former Democratic Party employee.
Matricardi's sentence includes 180 hours of community service.
The felony conviction also leaves him unable to vote.

Residents of one Montgomery County community are bouncing back from a rare and severe weekend storm.

For nearly two hours Sunday, residents along Willis Hollow Road witnessed an unusually strong downpour.
The creek running along their road became a river, washing out roads and driveways.
The National Weather Service says five inches of rain fell on the area in less than 90 minutes.
At least half a dozen public roads were washed out... but most of the damage is already being fixed.
Meteorologists say that just 10 miles to the south there was almost NO rainfall.

teams were at the Brickyard at Indianapolis giving the track a workout in preparation for the August 3rd - Brickyard 400.
Three of the top four cars were Dodges as Casey Mears - the nephew of four-time Indy 500 champ Rick Mears, Casey Atwood and Jeremy Mayfield were smoking.
Mayfield had a lap at over 176 miles an hour.
Mark Martin, Bobby Labonte and Ricky Craven also got in some decent circuits on this the first day of the two day test.
More testing is scheduled next Monday and Tuesday.

It's a rare occurrence but there is such a thing as an albino raccoon.

A family found the all white raccoon in their backyard along with his normal colored siblings.
The raccoons were transferred to the Plano Living Materials Center where the raccoons will offer a visual lesson on genetics and survival.
Unlike his siblings this raccoon may not return to the wild. His unusual coloring may make him vulnerable to predators.
