The third defendant in a double homicide in Pittsylvania County changed his mind today.

Matthew Shallenberger pled guilty to seven crimes yesterday but said he'd go to trial today on the capital murder charges. This morning he pled guilty to all counts.

Shallenberger admitted to the October murders of Julian Lewis Jr. and his 25 year old son Charles at their Keeling home. Prosecutors say Shallenberger and another man, Rodney Fuller, joined Lewis' wife, Theresa, in a murder-for-hire scheme. Theresa Lewis was sentenced to die for the crime. Fuller pled guilty and is serving a life sentence.

Policies at an area camp are coming under more scrutiny, after allegations of staged fights surfaced yesterday.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension, which runs the 4-H center at Smith Mountain Lake and 5 others around the state, is now reviewing its procedures.
Yesterday, Franklin County's prosecutor started looking into allegations that volunteer counselors at the Smith Mountain Lake camp set up fights and forced campers to take part.
In a statement today, the director of the Extension program said the allegations, if true, are contrary to what 4-H stands for and teaches.
Franklin County investigators continue to interview campers. Commonwealth's Attorney Cliff Hapgood also confirmed that the groups staying at the camp last week were from Bedford and Halifax Counties.

Lynchburg police are on the lookout for a man charged with stabbing another man during an argument this afternoon.

Around 12:15, police say the two men were involved in an altercation inside this home in the 2400 block of Cobbs Street.
51-year-old James Arthur Marshall was cut on the wrist and in the abdomen. He's still being treated at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Sampson was also fined one-thousand dollars.
At one time, he owed more than 22-thousand dollars in child support.
Sampson's lawyer says his client started to have difficulty with the payments after he quit playing for the N-B-A.


In April, Sampson was sentenced to a year of probation for failing to pay child support for another daughter in the Charlottesville area.

Total Action Against Poverty is again helping dropouts return to the classroom. The Western Virginia Education Classic football game raises proceeds to make this happen.
