Investigators are still searching for the person or persons who killed three members of a Henry County family. Nine year old Jennifer Short and her parents were killed nearly one year ago. Today-- Jennifer would have celebrated her tenth birthday.

Captain Kimmie Nester with the Henry County sheriff's office says at least eight investigators from both Henry and Rockingham counties continue working on the case full time. They also receive occasional assistance from state police and the F-B-I. He says physical evidence from the case has been overwhelming for the Roanoke crime lab. It could be a year or more before they get results from all tests.

A fatal- shooting last night in Halifax County may have been an act of self- defense. Investigators say 54- year old Ricky Shelton Morris died after being shot in the head by his son.

The West Virginia Air National Guard plane landed at Oceana Naval Station after hitting turbulence about 60- miles south of the base. Officials say about 20- service-members on board were injured. The Greenbrier Valley Airport may lose commercial air service for part of the year. Air Midwest currently provides daily service from the airport to Charlotte. But the airline says without help from the federal government it will stop flying its 19- seat passenger aircraft within 90- days. Barry Bonds turned down an invite to participate in the All Star Homerun Derby next week, but he's holding a Derby of his own. Today Bonds ripped his 30th homer of the season. It came off Curt Schilling in an 8-1 win over Arizona, and allowed Bonds to join Jimmy Fox as the only players to hit 30 or more dingers in 12 consecutive seasons.

Bobby Hamilton suffered a similar fate in his Dodge.
They weren't Ford Tough, but Roush driver Carl Edwards was. He held off Ted Musgrave, Dennis Setzer and his own teammate Wood, who finished fourth. Edwards picks up the first truck win of his career.

In today's Busch race in Chicago, Kerry Earnhardt took a rocky ride before getting t-boned by Ashton Lewis. Earnhardt was cut from his car and taken to a hospital for observation but was o-k.
It was a tough day for Joe Nemechek's operation as both David Reuttiman and Todd Bodine went out midway through the race with engine trouble.
There was no such trouble for Bobby Hamilton, Junior who dominated this afternoon, leading 186 of the 200 laps. Hamilton took the checkered flag for his second win of the season. Matt Kenseth was second, 4 and a half seconds behind.

The Roanoke Valley Match Play Championship is down to just four players. Tech golfer Scott Wise of Vinton will take on Cam Young in one semifinal tomorrow while David Tolley will square off with Jack Allara in the other. The championship match will go off around two o'clock on Sunday.
