Health officials say a dead crow found east of Bassett has tested positive for West Nile Virus. It's the first case of the mosquito-borne illness in the West Piedmont Health District this year.
Experts fear an increase in West Nile cases this year because of the wet weather.
They suggest eliminating mosquito breeding areas around your home and protecting yourself from mosquito bites.

David Darrell Rice's federal trial was supposed to begin next month.
He's accused of killing two female hikers in the Shenandoah National Park seven years ago.
Rice's attorneys asked for the delay, saying they have NOT had enough time to review the thousands of government documents pertaining to the 1996 attacks.
No new trial date has been set.
Rice could face the death penalty if convicted.
