A Roanoke County man is charged with sex crimes against young women.
Police say 52-year-old Edward James Egan, of South Barrens Road, is in jail, facing rape and sodomy charges.
They started investigating him after people complained he was behaving inappropriately with underage girls.
Egan is being held in jail without bond.

The search for a missing fisherman in Lexington is over.

A rescue crew found the body of 78 year old Graham Smith at 10.30 this morning about a mile or so from where his brother had last seen him.
The two were fishing along the Maury River on Monday when Graham disappeared.
His body is now being transported to a nearby funeral home and his family has been notified.
The two brothers had fished along the Maury River together for over forty years.

Roanoke police and rescue crews spent much of last night searching the Roanoke River for a capsized boat.

They centered their efforts around the water treatment plant and 13th Street Bridge.
That's the area where Police say a man walked up to a house saying his boat had capsized and he couldn't find his friend.
The man left and so far police haven't found any trace of him, a boat or any other victims.

An Alleghany County judge is dead after a traffic accident.
Virginia State Police say Circuit Judge Duncan Byrd Junior died last night at Bath County Hospital after a crash on Route 220.
Police say his S-U-V ran off the road and down an embankment, throwing him from the car. He apparently was not wearing a seatbelt.
Byrd was 60 year old.

The bodies of all four crew members are recovered after a U-S military helicoper crash in Italy.

Officials say there was a report that the chopper was on fire BEFORE it went down yesterday, and that the crew made a distress call.
The helicopter was a Sea Dragon, which can carry up to 55 soldiers or up to 16 tons of cargo.
Its missions include sweeping for mines at sea.
Authorities say the four who died were the only ones aboard.

A small bomb has exploded in a state- run hospital in southern Pakistan.
At least 11 people were wounded.

The bomb exploded around midnight outside the surgical ward of the Civil Hospital in Hyderabad.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
It's the latest violence in recent months in Pakistan.
Police blame most of the violence on Islamic extremists, who oppose Pakistan's support of the war against terror.

Peter Odighizuwa faces capital murder charges for the shooting deaths of three people LAST January at the Appalachian School of Law. Odighizuwa was being treated in a state hospital for schizophrenia, after a judge ruled he was incompetent to stand trial. But, a clinical psychologist now says his mental capacity has been restored. A competency hearing is scheduled for September Ninth.

A teenager in Roanoke will soon become the youngest patient in the nation to get a stem cell transplant for Crohn's Disease.
It is considered an experimental treatment, but it could be Jordan Fifer's best chance to beat the painful condition.

The ACC confirmed yesterday that it has formally asked the NCAA to change its existing rule concerning post season championship games in football, now that Tech and Miami are on board. NCAA regulations currently state that a conference must have a dozen teams to hold such a game. The ACC is asking that any conference with at least 10 teams be able to do so. We won't know if it passes until next Apri,l at the earliest.

On the NBA front, the two- time MVP Tim Duncan will remain with the Spurs for many years to come.

Last night - Duncan signed a seven-year, 122 million dollar deal with the Spurs. He became an un-restricted free agent on July 1st, but he indicated that the only team he was considering was the Spurs. Duncan, who has played six seasons in the NBA has averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 blocks since leaving Wake Forest.

The Kobe Bryant case in Colorado remains in limbo, and it may stay that way for another week. Last night the county district attorney in Eagle, Colorado said he won't likely announce until late this week or early next week if Bryant will be charged. The five time all-star is accused of sexually assaulting a 19 year old at a resort near Eagle, Colorado.
