Following an investigation into the matter, City Manager Darlene Burcham is making changes to the SRO program.
Effective immediately all police recruits will undergo SRO training.
While resource officers will now be rotated.
The maximum length in the SRO program will be six years and an officer can only stay at one school for up to three years.
Burcham says this is not just a reaction to the situation with Lewis.

The SCLC recently asked the Justice Department to investigate Roanoke Police for what Artis calls the deliberate avoidance of the gang problem.
When asked today whether the creation of the "street crimes unit" was an acknowledgement of gang presence in Roanoke, City Manager Darlene Burcham would say only that police are aware of certain groups that engage in criminal activity.

Several young people may soon face charges for alleged organized fist fights at the Four-H camp in Franklin County.

Volunteer counselors between the ages of 14 to 19 are accused of staging fights between campers and charging admission and taking bets on the outcome.
Franklin County Commonwealth's Attorney Cliff Hapgood says the initial investigation is complete and that he has now submitted his recommendations for charges.
Hapgood declined to give specifics as to what the charges might be.
A juvenile intake officer must decide in the next day or so whether to pursue those charges.

Watch what happened to Lance Armstrong during stage 15 today as a young fan's yellow flag catches his handle bar and rips him to the ground.
The fall came with about 6 miles left in the 99-mile stage. Armstrong smacked onto the road, scraped his left elbow and dirtied his yellow jersey and banged up his hip.
He then climbed back on his bike and got back in the race.
But, a few seconds after getting back on his bike, Armstrong nearly fell again when his right foot slipped out of his pedal.
He went on to win the stage and now has a 67 second lead over Jan Ullrich.
