Two men entered a Bassett apartment late Tuesday or early Wednesday and fatally shot 19-year old Nicolas Ryan Marshall. They bound a second man with duct tape. The sheriff's office yesterday released this composite sketch of one suspect. He is described as a black man, abouty five feet 11 inches tall, 240 to 270 pounds, who speaks with a lisp. Investigators also released a photo of a car similar to the one that may have been used in the getaway -- one driven by a white male.
It is a red Ford Probe with chrome wheels.

[MB Monitor -- FS N7 Movie Review]
(-------------)

((Movie Review "Seabiscuit" Universal/Dreamworks "Seabiscuit" is a nice change of pace from all the "big on action, small on plot" movies of this summer. The movie is an old fashioned story, told in traditional movie style. The acting is superb; and the moviemakers have given the film a bit of a documentary feel in order to set the story in the proper atmosphere-the Depression years when many were uprooted, despairing and needing something hopeful. "Seabiscuit" concentrates on the lives and fortunes of three men and a difficult horse, whose destinies dovetail fortuitously. Jeff Bridges is Charles Howard, a bicyclemaker who becomes a very successful car salesman in early 1900's California. His fortunes and his family are shattered when the Stock Market crashes and a personal tragedy strikes. Tom Smith, played by Chris Cooper, is a cowboy, and horse wrangler who is displaced when trains, cars and barbed wire come to the West. He is a drifter who has a way with horses. Johnny (Red) Pollard (Tobey Maguire) is a 16 year old gifted jockey who is given up by his family when they fall on hard times. He is sent to work for a horse trainer; but if he loses a race, he is beaten and humiliated. A feisty young man, he boxes, taking on those much larger than he, and usually losing. In Mexico, Howard becomes interested in horse racing and decides to buy a horse. He notices the odd Tom Smith, likes his attitude and hires him to find a horse and jockey. Smith seems to have an almost psychic ability to see past the obvious, and discovers a horse nobody wants, a horse trained to allow other, so-called "better" horses to win races, a horse named Seabiscuit. At the same time, he sees Red fighting a bunch of bigger, older guys and history is made. The movie follows the rise of the horse Seabiscuit and the impact the little underdog horse with indomidable spirit has on the mood of the country. Charles, Tom, Red, Charles' wife and of course, Seabiscuit, become the family all of them had lost. Racing scenes are exciting, even when the outcome is known. William H. Macy is very funny as a radio announcer with a flair for the dramatic. "Seabiscuit" is poignant without resorting to sappiness. The characters are flawed, but engaging. Because the movie jumps forward in time, some subplots were left behind and some questions left unanswered. I guess I'll have to read the book on which the movie is based, to see if they are answered there. Rated: PG-13. "Seabiscuit" will be too slow moving for young children, but some teens in the audience liked it very much. Grade: A- ))
