An Ohio man's three- day run from the law ended last night in Greenbrier County, West Virginia when he allegedly shot his daughter and then turned the gun on himself.

John Richard Mayhew's trouble with the law began in Ohio when police say he shot and killed his former wife and her fiance on Thursday, then took his daughter hostage.

Mayhew was traveling through West Virginia yesterday when he was pulled over by a sheriff's deputy for not having an inspection sticker. State police say when the deputy approached the vehicle and started a conversation-- Mayhew pulled out a gun and shot the officer in the chest.

The Wise Avenue Bridge near the Vinton line is blocked off because of the effects of last night's flooding. Authorities say that morning traffic should avoid the area, and the bridge should be reopened tomorrow.

An infant was found dead in Roanoke this afternoon. Police say the boy's mother told them she put 10 month old David Anthony Dooley in the bathtub with her 3 year old son to answer a knock on the door. Whe she returned, the younger child was found in the water. The child was transported to Community Hospital, but was not revived.

An explosion north of Baghdad destroyed a U-S military vehicle after a convoy was targeted by Iraqis.
