The Roanoke County school board approved a compromise plan to light the soccerfield at Hidden Valley High School.

To ease neighbors' concerns, the plan includes colored poles that blend into the scenery, limiting the use of the field to just the high school soccer team and making sure the lights are off within a half hour after a game ends.
The school board also approved renovations to Bogle (Bow-gle) Field at Cave Spring Middle School. Both the Cave Spring and Hidden Valley High School football teams will play there.

Cundiff's adult son was also found dead in the family's mobile home in the Scruggs section of the county. Officials believe he passed away at least four days ago. The two lived alone and investigators say it appears both died of natural causes. Authorities believe the elderly Cundiff died and that his son, who was mentally handicapped, was unable to care for himself. He either wasn't able to take his medication or went without food and water.
