Glaciers in Switzerland have shrunk to levels not seen in 150 years.
Experts say that record temperatures have sped up what HAS been a long melting process.
Many say global warming, brought on by the excessive production of greenhouse gases, is to blame.
The melting of the glaciers threatens those living in nearby valleys with flash floods and mudslides.
Eventually, the phenomenon could even put water supplies at risk.

After reading an ad in a local newspaper, families in Berlin turned out in large numbers to stand in line and pass out ice to the bears-- which brought them some relief from the heat as well..
