Today a judge sentenced him to five years in prison- after tearful testimony from witnesses for both the prosecution and defense.

An accident in North Carolina- a boat speeding across Lake Norman in North Carolina went airborne ... hit a car on Interstate 77 and ended up in the median.

The accident happened at about two thirty this morning.
Tonight two people who were in the boat are in critical condition.
Police say the driver of the car was shaken up but was not seriously hurt.
Witnesses say the boat hit the bank of the lake, sailed over the guardrail and landed upside down in the median.
The crash delayed traffic for hours.
The driver of the car says he saw a boat in the air- and he says it bounced off the hood of his car. He says he's lucky the boat did not crash right into his car.

Another story that sounds like it's out of a movie, but it was reality for a man in California- trapped in the forest for three days.

The man's van plunged 200 feet down the side of a highway- landing in thick brush.
He was cut- and the incline was too steep- so he waited for three days.
But no one came, so the 50 year old set fire to the forest, hoping someone would see him.
When firefighters got there the blaze covered 2 acres.. but firefighters saw the van and rescued the man.
Firefighters say if the man had done the same thing a day later when it was windy he may have become trapped in his own blaze.

A strike in the ECHL is closer to a reality tonight after the player's union voted to strike. The talks between the union and the league's owners are at an impasse after three months of negotiations.

In trying to reach a new collective bargaining agreement, the union has proposed revenue sharing where a visiting team would get 20 percent of a game's gate. That idea was rejected as was a luxury tax. Still, teams are confident that a deal will get done.

This morning Coach Cal McCombs awarded the job to redshirt freshman Jonathan Wilson. Wilson, who will be backed up by Josh Lyles, was the local favorite in the quarterback race, having played at Rockbridge County High School.
He had the chance to sit back and watch record setting QB Joey Gibson a year ago.
