It was an electrical fixture like this one that started it all.
Fire spread in two directions, quickly engulfing two condos and threatening several more.
Despite what looks like total destruction, officials predict the building will be repaired within three or four months.

The Virginia Department of Health spent the day today at the True Value Northwest Hardware Store. They were there to test for areas of contamination after chemicals inside the store were burned and then doused with millions of gallons of water. The City of Salem initially closed it's water intake system, but reopened it this afternoon. Closed lanes on Route 460 are also expected to re-open today. Officials will continue to monitor the situation, but say there are no immediate health risks.

Jennifer Wishon is here with the latest on West Nile. Shannon-- only those over 50 years of age or have a weakened immune systems are at high risk for developing life- threatening symptoms.

A drug bust in Giles County sent one man to jail today.

It happened around 2:30 this morning at the Carden Hotel in Rich Creek. Police discovered 32-grams of methamphetamine inside one of the hotel rooms, along with other materials used to make the drug. Officers arrested 46-year-old William Joseph Snow of West Virginia and charged him with possession of methamphetamine.
Authorities believe Snow was operating two other labs in West Virginia. He's being held in the New River Regional jail on seven-thousand dollars bond.

But today his attorney Marty Parks filed a motion for a change of venue, saying the case has gotten too much media attention. Schermerhorn and his ex-girlfriend Cynthia Davis were charged with felony homicide, for the murder of Davis' five-year-old son, Logan Bowman. The two were initially charged with child neglect. Parks says he doesn't know why the homicide charge was added in the first place.

The track was under a drying pattern until just before five pm.
