Goodyear's cutting jobs, just a week after it reached a new contract deal with unionized workers.
The tire-maker says it's cutting 500 salaried and non-union workers system-wide.
Goodyear says the reductions will affect managers and staff at most manufacturing plants in North America.
The plant in Danville employs about two-thousand people.

Cash-strapped law enforcement agencies in Henry County are getting a hand from the federal government.

Congressman Virgil Goode delivered checks from the Justice Department to buy new equipment for Henry County and Martinsville patrol cars.
A 100-thousand-dollar grant will help Henry County install video cameras in 38 of its cars.
The cameras give deputies a record of traffic stops that can be used in court.
In Martinsville, a 25-thousand dollar grant will help upgrade in-car computers.
The computers allow officers to access driving and criminal records without tying up dispatchers.

Some local people were aboard that Amtrak train that crashed into a truck today in Northern Virginia.

The train made stops in Danville and Lynchburg earlier today- about 25 people got on the train in Lynchburg including one woman who reported "quite a thunk" when the train hit the truck.
She says a few of the nearly 300 passengers aboard were treated for minor injuries, but most people were not hurt.


The driver of the truck was killed in the crash.
Authorities say he failed to yield at an uncontrolled crossing.
