If you've traveled Interstate 81 this weekend, you may have noticed a stronger state police presence. Since Friday-- each division has had 75 percent of its troopers not only working the Interstate but other busy roadways, as well. That's a 25 percent increase over an average day.

Labor Day Weekend is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. State police say they typically see an increase in all sorts of calls from Friday through Monday-- and that this year is no exception.

Rising water swept vehicles off the highway- killing four children in the family's minivan.
Their mother is one of the missing. Her husband tried to free the children as the van filled with water and floated away.

A Texas man is also missing- after his jeep stalled.
Searchers have found the body of a teen who drowned while trying to swim in a rain swollen creek.
Divers are searching a reservoir and areas around the turnpike about 100 acres are covered with water.

Officers say a woman was robbed outside the Rockola Cafe about 9:30 this morning.
The male suspect used the stun gun on the woman's hand- she dropped her purse along with the restaurant's bank deposit.

They may soon be climbing the walls again at a popular recreation facility in Roanoke, a year after budget issues shut it down.

But in the months since, the Department of Parks and Recreation has found a company interested in operating and maintaining the facility.

Tonight, head coach Frank Beamer announced that Vick has been suspended for the JMU game for violating team policies.

The Salem Avalanche found out before game time tonight that they had no chance of winning the second half southern division crown. The Avs needed some help in the form of a Kinston loss, but Kinston beat Myrtle Beach 5-to-nothing to sew up the title.

Rayna DuBose is back at Virginia Tech, and tomorrow morning a national audience will hear her inspiring story.

DuBose is the Virginia Tech Women's Basketball player who was hospitalized with Meningitis in April of 2002. She spent three months in the hospital, and lost parts of all four limbs to the infection.
This summer, she assisted with a women's basketball camp. This fall, she'll take classes in Blacksburg and she'll also serve as a student assistant coach with the Hokies this season.
