Roanoke County police have charged a Roanoke man with driving under the influence, after an accident last night killed his wife.
County officers got the call just after 10 PM to Newport Road, southwest of Catawba. They found a pickup truck overturned, with one person trapped inside.
Police have charged Archie Wilson Alls of Roanoke with D-U-I. His wife, Margaret Alls, was pronounced dead at the scene. Archie Alls was not seriously hurt.

Virginia Tech student Rayna DuBose should be telling her story to a national audience just minutes from now. She is scheduled to appear on the CBS Early show in the next half hour.

DuBose is the Virginia Tech Women's Basketball player who was hospitalized with Meningitis in April of 2002. She spent three months in the hospital, and lost parts of all four limbs to the infection.
In April, the U. S. Basketball Writers Association presented her its "Most Courageous" Award. She is scheduled be on the Early show at 7-39.

State police say a Norfolk South train struck and killed a person riding a bicycle along railroad tracks overnight.
Investigators say it happened around 12-45 this morning at or near a private crossing along Blue Street near Boones Mill.
The victim died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released a name.

Former Henry County Administrator Sid Clower will have his first taste of freedom in over a year today, when he's released from prison.

Clower spent 400 days behind bars after pleading guilty to three counts of embezzlement last year.
He admitted to stealing more than 800- thousand dollars from the Henry County Public Service Authority over a nine- year period.

Today he begins a 90- day work release program at the Chatham jail.
And he still owes about 620- thousand dollars in restitution to the P-S-A.

Danville police are looking for a man who used a stun gun to pull off a robbery yesterday.
Officers say he robbed a woman outside the Rockola Cafe by using a stun gun on her hand. The victim dropped her purse along with the restaurant's bank deposit.

A D-U-I accident has claimed a Roanoke woman's life, and left her husband facing charges.
Roanoke County officers got the call just after 10 last night to Newport Road, which is southwest of Catawba.
They found a pickup truck overturned, with one person trapped inside.
Police have charged Archie Wilson Alls of Roanoke with D-U-I.
His wife, Margaret Alls was pronounced dead at the scene.
