26 year old Jason Childress, who was injured in a July car crash, has been removed from a ventilator.
The Appomattox man has been at the center of a legal battle over whether to keep him on life-support.
Yesterday, the University of Virginia Medical Center removed it after his court-appointed guardian determined he would not want to continue living on life support.
Childress' mother, sister and fiancee supported removing the ventilator. His father and stepmother did NOT.
Since Childress had no spouse or adult children, left no written instructions and his parents could not agree, a judge appointed a guardian to make the decision.

Almost half of Virginia's public schools did NOT meet goals set by the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
That's according to data released by the State Department of Education.
It shows only 55 percent met all the adequate progress goals established by the education reform law passed last year.

However, education officials say the results aren't as important as S-O-L scores.[8Wx-Headline]
