Bedford County supervisor Kirby Richardson was released on bond from jail yesterday after his arrest Friday following a special grand jury indictment.

Richardson was released from jail after posting a 10-thousand dollar secured bond.
In court yesterday, he was asked about any previous criminal convictions.
Richardson admitted to a Class-one misdemeanor, but the judge did not require Richardson or his attorney to elaborate in court.

According to officials, a Giles County minister accused of molesting children had access both in the church and in the classroom.

Roger Holcomb of the Pembroke Church of God is in jail on 13-child molestation charges.

Authorities say Holcomb abused five children who attended his church, and in some cases, the schools where he was a substitute teacher.
Holcomb filled-in teaching at Narrows High School and Eastern Elementary for 16-days over the past school year.

Roanoke City council is moving ahead with plans to reduce the growing number of deer in the city.
Yesterday council approved a change in the city code that will allow retired police officers to use firearms within city limits to control the deer population.

23-year-old Kevin Eugene Brown is accused of helping to gun down Anthony and Ronda Robinson in their Sussex Street home in April of 2002.

Brown's attorneys have argued their client fired just one shot that hit Anthony Robinson and that the wound was not fatal.
Brown's co-defendant Leon Jermain Winston has already been convicted and sentenced to death.
