A storm surge of at least 5 to 6 feet sloshed across roads and altered the landscape. Sand dunes assaulted by waves momentarily disappeared under whitewater. On many streets debris replaced tourists. The National Hurricane Center says Isabel delivered sustained winds of 100-miles an hour. It's expected to weaken as it moves inland.

Someone in the Lynchburg area became a millionaire- -18 times over- -last night. The Kroger store on Boonesboro Road sold a Lotto South ticket that matched all six winning numbers. It was the only one in last night's drawing to match the winning combination of numbers. That makes it worth about 18-million dollars. So far, the winner has not come forward, yet. The store gets a 25-thousand dollar bonus for selling the winning ticket.
