But they would come up empty on the drive. A few series later the Colonels did their best to secure the shutout when PH's Mike Young dumps the swing pass to Artez Foster. He eludes a few, but runs into the assassin - Dewayne Priest - who puts the wood on him! PH would get a field goal, and then try to come up with a late drive Mike Young's pitch and catch with Seth Chapman nets 37 yards into Colonel territory with under 2 minutes to go.

The Franklin County Eagles and Pulaski County Cougars played some thrilling games back in the old Roanoke Valley district days. Tonight - they met at Cy Dillon Stadium as Jack Turner returned to place where he once served as an assistant.

The Eagles came back from the halftime break with a 17-to-6 lead and a huge rowdy crowd cheering them on. But the Cougars would look to take control early. Brandon Anderson punches in the score on a fourth and goal and he gets in to make it 17-to-12. Pulaski then went for two, and Anderson will sweep in off the right end. It's now a 17-to-14 game. An Eagle fumble would give the ball right back to Pulaski and Shumate will air it out deep down the middle to a wideopen Greg Sartin. he pulls it in and complete the 30 yard touchdown. And suddenly the Cougars are on top 21-to-17. Midway through the fourth - Pulaski was eating up the gournd and the clock.

Ed Landis's team was right in it heading to the third tied up at 7-all. Glass wouldcap the drive with a 34 yard field goal from Wayne Cunningham. It's 10-to-7 Glass in the third. Early in the fourth, Glass would be forced to punt out of the endzone. The snap sails out of the endzone and the safety makes it a 10-to-9 game. On the ensuing possession.

The score has remained the same through the first three games for Northside - not a single point scored. Salem would march down the field with a clock eating 15 play drive. Matt Shawver drops back and throws right at the camera - and he also connects with receiver, but the officials rule he trapped it in the endzone. On a fourth down from the 15, Salem would look for three, but the field goal also is no good from 26 yards out and the game remains scoreless. Both teams struggled with fumbles and penalties, but late in the first quarter - the Vikings would finally visit that elusive endzone. The pitch goes to the left to Drew Dill and he will zig zag

Officials estimated that more than 4000 fans crammed their way into Mountaineer Field - many of them arriving as early as 4 this afternoon. After a Charger fumble gave it right back - Gavin Haynes would go to work finding a slicing Michael Carroll who flies 26 yards as BIG RED trims the lead to 20-to-14 in the third.
