A drug operation that stretched from New York to North Carolina is busted up in Halifax County.
Seven men from South Boston, Danville and Maryland are under arrest, charged with drug possession and distribution.
Police say the alleged ringleader was responsible for distributing 80 kilos of cocaine and crack over the past two years.
Officers say 80 kilos has a street value of nearly eight-million dollars.

A Radford native is western Virginia's newest federal judge. The U-S Senate confirmed Glen Conrad to the U-S District bench today.
Conrad was nominated by President Bush back in April.
He's spent his entire adult life working in the federal judicial system -- first as a probation officer and then as a U-S Magistrate in Charlottesville and Roanoke. Judge Conrad will fill the position created when Judge James Turk assumed senior status last year.

After losing three months of work to snow and rain, construction crews say they'll finish renovations to Lynchburg's City Stadium by the end of the year.

The ballpark is undergoing a five-million dollar renovation that will upgrade seating and concessions and add five skyboxes.
The work was supposed to be finished last spring, but wet weather delayed much of the construction.
