And they expect that figure to rise substantially.

State officials say the price tag for damage to public property is about 175 million dollars.

Authorities still don't know who shot and killed 51-year-old Richard Anthony Palmer of Riner.

The Montgomery County School bus driver was found dead in his pickup truck in Roanoke back in April.
His dog was also killed.
Palmer's family and church are now offering a reward for information in the killing.
They won't say how much the reward is.

A school shooting in Minnestoa- one student is dead, another is hurt and a third is in custody.

So far authorities say the boy who did the shooting is a freshman at the school, but they don't know what the motive was.
One report says the shooting happened during gym class when one boy opened fire shooting two other boys.
A hospital spokesman tonight says one of the boys is dead, the other is in critical condition.

The maker of a widely-sold children's play yard is warning consumers of a possible strangulation hazard.

The warning applies to Graco "pack 'n Play" portable playpens. Graco warns that when when children are placed in the pens while the changing table is still in place, the child can crawl under and lift the table up.
When that happens, a child's head and neck can become trapped between the table and the rail. The warning applies to play yards sold between October 2001 and now.

A federal judge has pulled the plug on the national Do Not Call list.

A federal court in Oklahoma sided with telemarketers today by ruling the Federal Trade Commission overstepped its authority when it created the national registry.
FTC officials disagree with the decision, saying it was operating under authority granted by Congress.

It was an express mail train that flew off a Danville trestle, crashing to a rocky creek bed below, killing eleven people.
