Waking up to temperatures in the 40s this morning-- but tonight we'll see the coolest weather of the season so far.

A Virginia Tech student dead and 5 other people injured after falling out of a third floor apartment window.

Blacksburg Police received the call just after 10 o-clock last night. They say more than 50 people had gathered inside an apartment on Harrell Street to listen to live bands. During the show, some people in the crowd were slam dancing. That pushed the victims into a window that broke out. They fell approximately 20 feet and landed on a concrete patio. 19 year old Daniel James Martin of Emerald Isle, North Carolina later died at Montgomery Regional Hospital. 21 year old James Michael Kontkanen of Manassas Park was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he is in critical condition. The other four victims were taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital.

The Roanoke native was last seen heading for a 7-11 on Williamson Road, but store employees say she never got there. She did however, call her father from a pay phone at the Roanoke Weiner Stand and use a code word to indicate she was in trouble. Her parents continue to distribute flyers in the Roanoke area.

They've also started an email campaign, which has prompted phone calls from all over the east coast. Still the Northrups say they have no real leads as to where their daughter may be. Anyone with information is asked to call their local police.

Government officials are also warning about con-artists posing as federal emergency representatives. FEMA says inspectors NEVER ask for money, and do NOT drive cars marked with the agency's logo. Officials say if an inspector comes to your home, you should ask to see identification before signing any papers.

A business in Roanoke was heavily damaged by fire yesterday morning.

Firefighters say the blaze broke out just before two at Dameron's Custom Cabinets on Salem Turnpike in Northwest Roanoke. The building also houses an auto garage which had several cars inside at the time. Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire or the amount of damage. One firefighter burned his hand, but no one else was hurt. Salem Turnpike has since reopened.

The Family Christian Store on Starkey Road will be open seven days a week. The president of the retail chain says he knows the decision will be met with some criticism, but that he believes it will better serve customers. He says people should be able to purchase Christian resources to meet their needs every day of the week. In order to support regular times of worship, the store will not be open Sunday mornings.
