Police are actively investigating a multiple shooting in Northwest Roanoke this evening.

Police received reports of multiple shots fired on the 15-hundred block of Center Street, and the 13-hundred block of Gilmer around 9-45 this evening.
At least two people have been transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Six year old Candice Parker is safe and sound tonight after allegedly being abducted by her stepmother yesterday morning.
An Amber Alert went out shortly after 4 P- M yesterday and by 10:30 Candice's abductor was in custody.

One person was taken to the hospital after an accident in Roanoke that involved a police officer this evening.

Officials with the Virginia Department of Transportation say some construction projects may be delayed as they focus on repairing roads damaged by the storm.
Hurricane- related repairs and cleanup are expected to cost V-DOT 100- million dollars.
That's 26- million dollars more than V-DOT budged for weather- related emergencies for the entire year.
Department officials say they will seek federal assistance, but that can take years.

A New York City man who kept a tiger and an alligator in his apartment is also recovering from bite wounds.
According to animal control officials, the 20-month-old tiger had been kept in the Harlem apartment since it was a six-week-old cub... many neighbors even knew about the animals.
The 425 pound tiger and alligator were removed Friday and sent to an Ohio wildlife preserve.
Their owner faces a reckless endangerment charge.

Let's start on the track at the Martinsville Speedway where 80 drivers started the day gunning for the 15 thousand dollar first prize in the Taco Bell 300.

The half mile oval was bathed in sunshine and a great crowd was ready for some hot late model stock car racing.
The wait was short as NRV regular Chad Harris blistered the competition in winning the first heat race.
The second qualifying heat race got even steamier when Wade Day runs right over Jamie Yelton in turn four, busting the radiator as Phillip Morris wins the race. T-J Majors and Woody Howard won the other two qualifiers.
Denny Hamlin led the pack at the start of the 200 lap main event.
Alexander Yontz blew an engine on the backstretch and the smoke jammed up the leaders. Collinsville's Jimmy Mullins would emerge with the lead and hold on two win the 25 hundred dollar halfway leaders award.
After the first 6 cars were inverted Jamey Caudill battled Kres Van Dyke over the next 100 laps to win the Taco Bell 300.

At lap 69, Michael Waltrip got out of the groove and spun into the wall to bring out the caution. Kenseth tried to avoid the 15 car and lost control himself. The championship leader crashed into the inside retaining wall and spent about 40 laps in the garage, before recording a 36th place finish.
Elliott Sadler, who flipped end over end last week at Talladega, blew a tire midway through today's race resulting in this fiery incident.
Kurt Busch found out about the hot stuff, blowing an engine and watching his car become engulfed with flames. Busch escaped unharmed.
Bill Elliott led 115 laps today, but Newman got the lead on a restart at lap 241 and held on to take the checkers.
