An apparent abduction yesterday in Christiansburg ended with the safe return of a six- year- old girl.

But the girl turned up safe a few hours later, when she and her stepmother walked into the Roanoke Police Department.

Authorities began looking for the six- year- old after she left with her stepmother early Saturday. Police say the girl's mother became concerned when she learned the child's father had not asked Barbara Joanne Scott Parker to pick up the girl.

A day after he was mauled by a tiger during a show, Roy Horn of Siegfried and Roy is fighting for his life.

He was bitten during a trick shown here that Horn and the tiger had performed many times.
The tiger was SUPPOSED to jump up and give him a kiss.
Instead, it bit his neck and dragged him off stage.
This is NOT video of that performance.
Horn is in critical condition and on a ventilator.
The Siegfried and Roy show -- a staple on the Las Vegas Strip -- has been closed indefinitely.

A team from Habitat for Humanity is building a home on Chatham Street in Roanoke, and you won't find any men on the job. Once completed, it will become the fourth home in Roanoke to be built by an "All Women" crew. Habitat for Humanity officials say they were losing a lot of their women builders because they didn't always feel comfortable working with men. The women say there's nothing like seeing a completed project.
