Tiffany Durham said patients were threatened with prosecution if they forged OxyContin prescriptions or sold their pills, but she indicated Doctor Knox didn't follow through. Knox played "good cop, bad cop" with patients, leaving it up to the staff to account for narcotics, hoping patients would still confide in him. Office Manager Beverly Boone placed a ban on new patients from the Pulaski area, after police reported a number of Knox's patients there had been caught trying to forge narcotic prescriptions.

Durham testified Boone decided the practice needed to see more new patients, needed the additional revenue, regardless of where they were from, so the ban was eventually lifted. The government is winding up its case.
