Officials say Kennedy purchased the Lance Air 320 Experimental plane two months ago and that it's self-maintained. Kennedy told investigators he'd been in Roanoke for a few days working on his plane and was headed to New London, Connecticut. There were no passengers. At least four flights in and out of the airport were delayed because of the accident. One flight was diverted to Washington D-C, and another was diverted to West Virginia.

A deadly explosion rocked a Baghdad hotel used by U-S security personnel this morning.

Witnesses say they saw two cars explode on a street outside the Baghdad Hotel.
Early reports indicate that at least 14 people are dead.
The hotel is believed to be a headquarters for the Central Intelligence Agency in Iraq.
Ambulances and U-S helicopters rushed to the scene.
This is the latest in a series of attacks aimed at Western targets in Iraq.

In other medical news, Carilion announces a three year plan to expand Roanoke Memorial hospital to house all in-patient services, and turn Community hospital into a health care training center.
Carilion says the plan will save close to 5 million dollars a year in operating expenses, while improving the quality of care.

Surgeons separating conjoined twins say its going well, but they still have a long way to go.

Doctors in Dallas are trying to separate two-year-old Egyptian boys joined at the head.
Both are said to be in stable condition.
The surgery is complicated and the risks are high: One or both boys may die, and even if they survive, some brain damage is possible.
A team of nearly 60 is helping with the surgery.
It could last up to four days.

A Campbell County church is being resurrected after a tornado destroyed it more than a year ago.

The foundation was poured for a new Lawyers Road Missionary Baptist Church two weeks ago and the structure already has four walls and a roof. It's being constructed entirely by volunteers with supplies that were donated by area businesses and residents. The church's pastor says the experience has been a blessing.
