One minor accident Sunday afternoon led to a major backup on interstate 81.

Things got so bad there were several incidents of road rage including one where a motorist pulled a gun.

An accident that happened around noon on northbound 81 in Salem.
Then one after the other, accidents kept popping up in the backup, damaging at least 16 vehicles.
It would take nearly 10 hours for traffic to get back to normal.

V-Dot recently installed these permanent message boards on roadways leading to the interstate.
They'll be used to warn motorists of problems ahead and possibly how long the delay will be as well advise motorists on alternate routes.
Eventually, V-Dot will go a step further and provide real time traffic information over the radio.

The radio component could be up and running by spring and would be similar to the one used by motorists for Virginia Tech games.

Drivers in downtown Roanoke are getting used to two-way traffic on Campbell Avenue, but the new traffic pattern isn't winning rave reviews from everyone.

The search for an escaped murder suspect in Pennsylvania is over.

Hugo Selenski turned himself into to State police tonight at his home- after his attorney called to arrange the surrender.
Selenski escaped from a jail in Wilkes Barre (Berry) Pennsylvania by climbing down a 60 foot rope made of bedsheets.
Selenski is suspected of killing five people who's remains were found buried on his property.
Selenski may not be put back in that jail though. He's being held at an undisclosed location.
Police are now trying to trace where he's been and if anyone helped him.

A grand jury indicted Peter Odighizuwa (oh-dig-ih-ZOO'-uh) today on capital murder charges.

The former Appalachian School of Law student is charged in the shooting deaths of his dean, a professor and another student in January of last year. He now faces three counts of capital murder, three counts of attempted capital murder, and six weapons charges. Just a day after announcing its decision to join the A-C-C, Boston College found out it's going to be sued by four other Big East schools.
The suit is expected to be filed tomorrow in Connecticut.
It alleges that the Atlantic Coast Conference and Boston College conspired to weaken the Big East.
B-C's athletic director and four ACC officials will also be named in the suit.
Connecticut, Rutgers, Pittsburgh and West Virginia are filing this suit and they're already suing the University of Miami.
A judge last week threw out a case against the ACC on jurisdictional grounds.

De Angelo became the first player in BIG EAST history to return two punts for touchdowns in the same game this past Saturday and Virginia Tech defeated Syracuse 51-7 and jumped to number 3 in the national polls. The Big East noticed that and made him special teams player of the week. The junior from Chesapeake scored on a 58-yard dash and a 60 yard gallop in less than 2 minutes.
Hall finished with five returns for 155 yards. He's currently 7th in the nation averaging 17 yards a return.

This afternoon officials from both schools announced that the game has been moved to the 2007 season. Tech asked LSU to move the game when the Hokies all-but-certain host role in next year's Black Coaches Association Classic fell through. Tech needed to free up the space on the schedule to secure a seventh home game for next season. LSU coach Nick Saban says he's not happy about it, but both Frank Beamer and Jim Weaver say it had to be done.

The club's monthly gathering at the Salem Civic Center's Community Room featured Virginia Tech head women's basketbal coach Bonnie Henrickson. All Bonnie has done in her six years at Tech is win at least 20 games each season and play in four NCAA tournaments and two NITs. Bonnie is 135 and 54 in those six years. Believe it or not practice begins at the end of this week for college's across the country. Roanoke Dazzle head coach Kent Davison - who also is gearing up for his third NBDL season also spoke to the crowd.
