Liberty University has won what may be the first battle in a controversial effort to rezone one of Lynchburg's biggest industrial properties.

Liberty has taken over the former Ericsson building on Mountain View Road in hopes of moving Thomas Road Baptist Church there and converting the rest of the property for school use.

Council voted 6-to-nothing in favor of the project.. and school officials hope that's a good sign.

And speaking of Volleyball - George Wythe's Lillie Moore was inducted in the Virginia High School League hall-of-fame tonight.
Her volleyball teams have won 416 games and lost just 123 in 28 years. She has 4 state volleyball titles to her credit.

Sheriff Mike Brown today introduced "Ripper", his department's newest K-9 patrol dog.
The dog has been paired with Corporal Penny Heffinger (HEF-in-jure) and is being trained as both a narcotics and search dog.
He's the gift of Bedford resident Marjorie Maupin (MAW-pin) who has helped pay for three drug dogs for the department over the past several years.
