Rescuers have found the body of a man who apparently committed suicide.

Two park rangers today found the body of 55-year old Ronald Lee Mayfield, Junior. A passerby saw the man climb over the railing of the Roanoke River Bridge on the Blue Ridge Parkway yesterday morning.
Police found a suicide note and wallet nearby. Divers and a State Police helicopter were called-in to assist in the search, which ended around noon today ...about a half-mile from the bridge. Police say Mayfield was employed by Roanoke City.

Authorities say a Floyd County man who died trying to fly his homemade glider did NOT have a pilot's license.

In fact, State police say 45-year-old Charlie West of Willis had very little aviation experience. West died last night after attempting to take-off in his homemade glider on Kyle Weeks Road. Investigators are not sure what caused the wreck, but say wind may have played a factor.

At least six people were killed after fire broke out in a Cook County administration building this afternoon in Chicago.

The victims were found in stairwells and offices above the 12th floor, where the blaze was confined. Firefighters found at least eleven people trapped after extinguishing the blaze. Authorities don't know how the fire got started in the 35-story building, which does not have fire sprinklers.

Finally tonight, Colombian cyclist Javier Zapata hopped into the record books, as he Bike-trialed up the tallest building in Latin America.

The 30-year-old broke his previous record by going up the 1,318 steps of the Torre Mayor (TOR-ay MEYE-or) in Mexico City. Hundreds of observers watched the one hour and 30 minute ride from a giant screen down below. Zapata is credited with introducing the sport of Biketrial to his native country.
