After hearing from 142 witnesses, capped by two days of closing arguments, the jurors in the OxyContin trial of Dr. Cecil Knox are taking a break.
They got the case around five tonight and decided to go home and begin deliberating in the morning.

Over the course of the seven-week trial, many of Knox's patients have gone to the federal courthouse to demonstrate their support for him.

As the jury got the case tonight, three alternate jurors were excused, including Mark Harless.
Though the judge did not identify him by name, he said there were indications Harless had been discussing the case before it went to the jury.

In a brief telephone interview this evening, Harless conceded he had publicaly acknowledged he was a juror on the Knox case. Harless said it came up in a class he takes on Wednesday nights.
The discussions involved no more than "what somebody had already read or seen on t-v" he said.
He acknowledged offering his own opinion on certain witnesses.
Three more alternate jurors remain- -in case any of the 12 jurors become ill during deliberations.

State police have made an arrest in the murder of one of their own.
Today trooper Taylor Blanton's wife was arrested and charged with murder.

After his half hour conference with the judge, the jury was informed that Muhammad would NOT be representing himself in the capital murder trial.

Schiavo has been in a vegetative state for 13 years.
Brown University Doctor Joan Teno says the 39 year old woman can not feel discomfort.
A Yale University doctor agrees.
Hospice nurses in a recent New England Journal of Medicine Study also said removing the feeding tube from someone like Schiavo leads to a peaceful dying experience.

Tony Renna was making his first laps with his new team during a tire test when his car went airborne in turn three going 220 miles an hour. Witnesses say the car cleared that four foot concrete wall and smashed into the catch fence breaking the cockpit in two. Tony Renna would have turned 27 years old next month.
