Last week, the county approved lowering its merchants tax by a fourth, in an effort to keep area car dealers, who say the tax is too high, from moving their vehicles out of the county during tax assessments.
However, many weren't pleased. They wanted the tax cut in half.
But, in addtion to lowering the tax, the county said it would also make assessments twice a year, instead of once, which is now upsetting some small business owners.
