An accident in Roanoke currently has parts of Peters Creek Road shut down.

Two people were injured around eight o'clock when a car crashed into a light pole at Peters Creek and Frontage Roads near the 581 overpass.
One person had to be extricated from their vehicle and was later taken to the hospital.
Power lines are covering both lanes of traffic on Peters Creek Road.
Because of that, traffic is being re-directed and police expect delays past midnight.

The jury in Dr. Cecil Knox's case is deadlocked on the racketeering and fraud charges against the Roanoke pain specialist.
Around two this afternoon the jury foreperson sent the judge a note, indicating the jury could not reach a unanimous decision on those issues but had settled the drug distribution charges.

California residents with much-needed aid.

During his freshman season in 2000 - Green was thrust into the starting lineup and asked to cover all-American Santana Moss.

Longtime local Roanoke Valley baseball booster Wayne LaPierre passed away today. LaPierre started sandlot programs in Garden City and was one of the founders of the Salem Roanoke Hall of Fame. He was also active in the Kiwanis Club and the American Legion.

Just in time for Halloween- a kit meant to kill vampires.
It sold at auction today for 12 thousand dollars.

The kit comes complete with a wooden stake, a pistol and ten silver bullets.
The kit is in a walnut box- It also contains a crucifix, a rosary and vessels for garlic powder and various serums.
Sotheby's says some experts believe such kits were commonly available to travelers in Eastern Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Others think the kits were made to cash in on the vampire interest sparked by the 1897 publication of Bram (Br- am) Stoker's Dracula.
An anonymous phone bidder bought the kit.
