A Franklin County man on trial for capital murder has been set free.

He WAS scheduled to go to trial this morning on charges that he murdered Franklin County teacher's aide Lori Boyd.

Not only is she a personal trainer and fitness specialist, but she's a spokesperson for the American Heart Association's mid-atlantic region.

The director of a Connecticut funeral home says Carney died Sunday at 85, and that services were held today.
He played Jackie Gleason's buddy Ed Norton in the popular 1950s sitcom.
Gleason once said he ``had to work twice as hard'' for his laughs because Carney was so funny.
Carney also won the 1974 Oscar for best actor in the movie ``Harry and Tonto.''
