Authorities are investigating a murder in Henry County. They say 28 year old Fredriquez Monzale Finney of Martinsville was found lying in the parking lot off V-C Drive yesterday afternoon. He died from multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities say someone took off in the vehicle that Finney had been driving.

One group that opposes the proposed methadone clinic in Roanoke says it'll use civil disobedience and even the Internet to keep the clinic from operating. Members will lay out more details of their plans later today.

The Defense Department has awarded 2 major contracts to the Radford Army Ammunition plant.

The contracts total more than 130 million dollars and could create up to 180 new jobs.
The facility will soon be nation's only manufacturer of TNT.
The Arsenal will also be making 25 millimeter training ammunition.

Attorney's for the man accused of killing two hikers on the Appalachian Trail say they can prove their client didn't do it.

Darrell David Rice's lawyers say the hairs recently found on crime evidence do not match his D-N-A. Both attorney's said the F-B-I examined three hairs found on clothing scattered around the campsite where Julianne Williams and Laura "Lollie" Winans were killed in 1996.

The report is another blow for prosecutors, who last month asked a federal judge to delay Rice's trial so they could examine the hairs and retest other evidence that did not belong to the victims or Rice.

The Virginia Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration have signed an agreement to begin the environmental study of Interstate 81.

The first tier of the study will consider major issues, including the use of tolls, rail alternatives and the segregation of cars and trucks. Officials hope it will be completed by mid-2005.

Textile maker Dan-River will have to cut jobs after a dismal third-quarter...but not in Danville.

The company said yesterday it lost 103.5 million dollars in the third quarter. Sales were down nearly 30 percent.

Dan River's closing a manufacturing facility in Sevierville (Severe-ville) , Tennessee, eliminating 416 jobs.
Most of the work that's performed there will be moved to Danville.
The company says the fourth quarter doesn't look any better and it's already scheduled several weeks of production downtime.

More than three-quarters of Virginia's schools are getting high marks on their S-O-L scores.

Education officials say seventy-eight percent of the state's 18-hundred schools are now fully accredited.
That is a 13 point improvement from last year when only 65 percent met the standard.
Schools earn full accreditation what at least 70 percent of students pass mandatory tests in English, math, science and history.
Even though 404 schools in the state failed to meet that mark, education officials say Virginia is still doing better than other states.

The creator of the video game, "Grand Theft Auto" is asking a federal judge to dismiss the 246 million dollar lawsuit,claiming free- speech protection. It's being blamed for two teenage boys shooting a pair of motorists-- including one from Virginia-- on a Tennessee interstate.

Sixteen-year-old William Buckner and his 14-year-old stepbrother, Joshua Buckner admitted that they randomly shot at motorists last June.
They killed Aaron Hamel of Knoxville, Tennessee and severely wounded Kimberly Bede of Moneta.
