(( It all began with a strong-armed robbery Wednesday afternoon at the Neighborhood Market in Lynchburg.
The suspect got away but apparently hit the Express Mart on Wards Road about twelve hours later.. forcing his way in and taking cash from the register.
Police say he then stole a van from the Guggenheimer Nursing Home parking lot and headed north on Route 29.
When the car broke down, a motorist gave him a ride to this convenience store in Nelson County, where he waited for the owners to show up.. pulled a gun on them and tried to take their vehicle.

A few minutes later a woman spotted him near her house and called police.
Deputies responded and almost had him in custody but he fought with one over the officer's gun and then escaped.

Moore says the barn roof collapsed within 15 minutes of his arrival.
Four horses died in the fire.
By the time the rest were rescued, Moore says, the barn was "pretty much gone."
The family had just started to renovate the old barn.
Moore's father, George, raised horses on the farm for about 50 years.
All of his saddles, trophies and pictures were lost in the fire.
Firefighters say they're not sure how the fire started.
