Today 41 patients were moved from Community Hospital to Carilion's new Mountain Pavilion at Roanoke Memorial. And transportation officials say six months of planning prevented any bumps in the mile long trek from one facility to another.

Fully staffed ambulances spent the day in Radford and Giles County, ready to respond if needed, while other ambulances were reserved in the Roanoke area so as not to disturb normal services. Davenport says the majority of his staff has a clinical background, which made them even more in tune with the needs of patients during the move. Now the move is NOT related to Carilion's plans for consolidation.
